Ravenwood High School seniors Lexi Erickson and Dominic Miller were both honored as the latest John Maher Builders Scholar-Athletes for the 2020-21 school year.

In addition to the recognition, both are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship that will be presented to two females and two males selected as scholar-athletes of the year by John and Margie Maher of John Maher Builders.

John Maher Builders has recognized and awarded thousands of dollars to dozens of local student-athletes each year since 2005.

Lexi Erickson

For four years Lexi Erickson has been a staple on the basketball court and softball diamond at Ravenwood and beyond.

"Lexi is positive, competitive, uplifting and an all-around great person," Ravenwood softball coach Allison Brown said. "She gives back to her community and is an all-around team player doing whatever it takes to the game all the while being a great leader and teammate."

Erickson also boasts a 3.94 GPA in the classroom as an AP scholar-athlete. She has been a part of FCA for four years where she has helped out in community projects, including working in the food pantry, gathering and helping to collect clothing and gifts for families in need as well as raising money for various organizations. Erickson is also an active member of the Brentwood United Methodist Youth Group.

On the court, she was a four-year starter for the basketball team and three-year captain earning All-District 11-AAA and All-Region 6-AAA honors twice as a member of the 1,000-point club for the Lady Raptors. She also holds the all-time record for 3-pointers made with 158.

On the field, Erickson has also been a four-year starter and two-year captain for the softball team. She also has earned All-District honors and went 2-for-4 with a run scored and stolen base in her final game Tuesday – a 3-2 setback against Centennial in the district tournament.

Lexi is the daughter of Shelly and Rick Erickson of Brentwood.

Dominic Miller

Ravenwood soccer coach Adam Harris said Dominic Miller is a prime example of what to strive for both on the field and in the classroom.

"He's an amazing representative for our school," he said.

The senior has a 4.8 GPA, scored a 34 on his ACT and earned All-District 11-AAA honors this season as a soccer standout.

"He's everything you look for in a player and young man," Harris said. "In the classroom and on the soccer field he is the top of his class."

The senior team captain wrapped up his career with the Raptors Tuesday in a 3-1 District 11-AAA semifinal loss against Brentwood. He closed the season with 10 assists and one goal and will compete with his Nashville United Soccer Academy club team this summer where he won the D1 state cup last year.

"He works extremely hard with his teammates and supports them during practices and games," Harris said, adding that Miller will be playing soccer at Washington College next fall.

Miller has volunteered his time at Full Circle YMCA Outreach, the Luke 14:12 Soup Kitchen and has served as an ACT mentor and helped during the holidays with families in need around the community.

"He's just an amazing you man with a bright future," Harris said.

Dominic is the son of Laura and Jeff Miller of Brentwood.
