Fire on the Track!

Oche, Nate, Jaeden, and Femi after their record breaking 4x200m relay

With storms in the forecast for Thursday, Brentwood High School moved their annual Scott Hartman Relays up a day to get better weather. Ravenwood's boys track & field team had no complaints after setting 11 PRs and breaking a 16 year old school record Tuesday.

Andrew Fitch (400m), Clayton Blanton (300m hurdles), Brennan O'Donnell (400m), Alex Osburn (400m), Femi Babalola (100m), AJ Algood (1600m), Kevin Rocha (1600m), Wesley Franklin (1600m), John Schaefer (1600m), Robert Hininger (1600m), and Ashton Martin (1600m) all clocked PRs, but the highlight had to be Oche Oodo, Nate Lamb, Jaeden Morris, and Femi Babalola teaming up to run 1:28.58 in the 4x200m relay, breaking a record set in 2009 by a foursome that included current Raptors coach Ricky Sierra. "It's pretty near to be part of the old record and coaching the group to the new record 16 years later," said Sierra.

"I could not be prouder of these guys for the way they've embraced the training, how they attacked this race today, and for the people they are," added a smiling Coach Mueller after their win.

Nine more events will be contested Wednesday, starting with boys discus at 3:30 PM.
