Ravenwood's boys track & field team had its best meet in years, winning the 23 team March Madness Invitational by a whopping 27 points. The field athletes got things off to a scorching start by winning four of six events. Sophomore Donovan Starr had in incredible day, adding 7" to his high jump PR and breaking a school record held by Bo Gilroy for the last fourteen years. His leap of 6' 9" is #2 in Tennessee. Senior Mason Green won both the shot and disc, and his 55' 5" put has him in prime position to break the school record, and more importantly, get on the podium at state. Patrick Fiechtl also scored in shot and disc and John Mark Coggin scored in disc. Newcomers Jackson Hopkins and Will Freeman finished 1-2 in the pole vault, and John Bass's long jump PR was good enough for second place. Before the running events even started Ravenwood was up by 29 points.

The success continued Saturday as the Raptors placed in nearly every race. Scorers included freshmen Caleb MacDonal, AJ Algood, Drew Carter, and Robert Hininger in the 4x800m, John Bass in the 110m hurdles, Ben Hubbard in the 100m, John Bass, Ben Hubbard, Cole Bennett, and Donovan Starr in the 4x100m relay, Trey Hallett and Alex Osburn in the 400m, Will Johnson in the 800m, Caleb West in the 3200m, and Brennan O'Donnell, Alex Osburn, Cole Montgomery, and Joey Horrell in the 4x400m relay.

As he put all the timing equipment away, Coach Mueller couldn't help but smile. "This is the most talented team we've had since 2020, and if we can stay healthy and keep getting better, I think we could be on the podium in May. We have more returning All State athletes than we've ever had before, and we have guys who can score all over the roster, not just in one discipline. This should be a fun season!"

The team will compete again at Brentwood High School in the Scott Hartman Relays March 30-31.
