With 3.8 seconds left on the clock, Ravenwood High School junior Drew Crabtree nailed a 21-yard field goal to give the Raptors their first lead of the night – and more importantly – a 16-14 Region 6-6A win over Independence on the road Friday night.
Ravenwood rallied to win a fifth consecutive game with senior Carter Pace also rushing for one of his two touchdowns inside the final five minutes.
Crabtree explained how he kept his composure to notch the game-winner. It's all about routine, he said.
"It is all down to my snapper Jaxon (Endres) and holder Ansel (Anderson)," Crabtree said. "Once the snap and the hold are down, the kick is just the next step. We've been practicing it all summer.
"Everything went off without a hitch."
