Raptors Runners Up at Mid State Championships

Ravenwood boys cross country runners up at MSCCA

It was a beautiful morning Saturday in Dickson, and Ravenwood's boys cross country team made the best of it with an exciting runners up finish at the Mid State Championship.

Kevin Rocha and AJ Algood led the way for the Raptors, finishing 6th and 8th to clinch All-MSCCA honors. Brentwood had 3 in the top 11, but Wesley Franklin, Jacob Meucci, and Caleb MacDonald all made it in before the Bruins' #5, giving Ravenwood an upset over their #1 ranked crosstown rival. Big John Schaefer placed sixth for Ravenwood.

Ravenwood's JV squad also put two in the top ten, with Robert Hininger and Ashton Martin placing 5th and 7th to pace the Raptors. Connor Owens, Jameson Mitchell, Kenner Basseen also scored, with Jean Claude Begin and Micah Harkins rounding out the top seven. The JV Boys also finished second overall.

"It was an exciting morning for sure!" said Coach Mueller. "There is still more for us to accomplish but a runners up finish at a big meet like this is great, and Brentwood is so talented and deep that it's special any time we can beat them. We have to really focus these next 12 days to get ready for region."

As always, Region 6-AAA will be extremely tough, with four of the best teams in the state competing for three spots in the state meet. Come see them put their season on the line on Halloween morning at the Hermitage!
