State Tennis: Ravenwood doubles team wins state title; Brentwood pair takes 2nd

MURFREESBORO – Two days after helping the Ravenwood High School boys tennis team hoist the Division I Large Schools state championship trophy, the Raptors doubles duo of Jackson Stone and Ethan Eisenhauer further added to their hardware.

Stone and Eisenhauer collected the doubles state championship Friday at the Adams Tennis Complex for a second Ravenwood finals win in two days.

Stone, a junior, and Eisenhauer, a senior defeated Collierville's Ajay Arul and Tristian Kelly – the same doubles team they beat 8-5 on Wednesday to clinch the team tennis championship. The Raptors pair posted a 6-3, 6-4 win in the finals Friday.

Stone and Eisenhauer opened the tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Station Camp's Lance Watson and Chase Etheredge on Thursday and claimed a 6-3, 6-2 semifinal win against Science Hill's Om Patel and Daniel Haddadin.

The Ravenwood win in doubles is a program first. The Raptor have five singles winners and another team title that came in 2018 on their resume.

The Brentwood girls doubles team of freshman Vivy Huddleston and junior Belle Huddleston also reached the state final, but dropped a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 decision to Science Hill's Allie Knox and Leah McBride – the same pair that helped the Lady Hilltoppers top Franklin for the girls team championship earlier in the week.

The Huddleston girls advanced out of the first round with a narrow 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 win against Rossview's Larissa Nogueira and Madison Windham before beating Cookeville's Maria Agbunag and Sarah Buchanan in straight sets.

Christ Presbyterian Academy's brother duo of Leo Menzie and Aiden Menzie fell in the semifinals Thursday against a familiar foe as well. The pair lost to Knoxville Webb's Alex Juergens and Wilder Dewhirst in the Division II-A doubles semifinals two days after falling to the same pair when the Lions escaped with a 4-3 championship win over the Spartans. The Knoxville Webb pair went on to win the doubles title Friday.

The Lady Lions junior Ella Sallee also fell in the semifinals of the DII-A singles tournament, taking a 6-4, 6-1 setback against Lausanne's Kai Wince.
