Lady Raptors Top Ten in XC Town

Ravenwood girls cross country at XC Town Twilight

Road trips are a blast, especially when you're on a charter bus with all your besties. Ravenwood's girls cross country team enjoyed their trip to the XC Town Twilight Invitational in Terre Haute over the weekend and are already looking forward to a return trip.

The JV girls team ran first, accompanied by the bright sun and surprisingly warm temperatures. Charlotte Remkus was undeterred, as she ran a new PR to finish in the top ten. Menaal Javed, Mae Sheehan, Margaret Anne Hannon, and Ashley Yeung also scored for the Lady Raptors, who finished 4th out of 16 scoring teams. Annabelle Klein and Channing Brown were 6th and 7th.

The varsity girls were led by senior captain Isabella Bolinger, who turned in another perfect strategic race, holding a steady pace and passing countless runners over the last half. Hadar Biger, Abby McMullen, Olivia Shaw, and Morgan Block also scored, with Kelly Gilroy and Tiffany Rocha finishing 6th and 7th for Ravenwood. The ladies placed 7th overall out of 54 scoring teams in the open race.

"I'm really proud of the girls. We had six first year runners in our top eight. The more they race, the better they will get, especially with their great attitudes in practice," said Coach Mueller afterwards.

After they finished racing the girls cheered for the boys' team and enjoyed the late night fireworks display before heading back to the hotel for some pizza and some shut eye. They'll be training hard for the next two weeks before they toe the line again on October 14 in the Mid State Cross Country Association championship.
