Off and Running

When you graduate a big, talented senior class, you gain opportunities, and Ravenwood's Lady Raptor cross country team took advantage of those opportunities Saturday night at Sanders Ferry Park. After sophomore Ashlyn Twyman and senior co-captain Isabella Bolinger, the next 5 runners into the chute were new to the varsity squad. Junior Hadar Biger, freshmen Morgan Block, Kelly Gilroy, and Charlotte Remkus, plus junior co-captain Tiffany Rocha made up the top 7 as the girls finished 13th out of 33 squads.

"I'm really happy for the girls," said Coach Mueller after the meet. "They are such a kind and supportive group. With so much youth we should improve a lot over the season and be in great shape for the future."

The JV girls featured more new faces, starting with Olivia Shaw, Menaal Javed, and Amara Hughes, none of whom were on the team last fall. Mae Sheehan and Charlotte Specht also scored for Ravenwood as the JV girls placed 4th as a team. Twenty five girls ran and 13 clocked PRs, so it was a good day for Ravenwood.

After three more weeks of training, the Lady Raptors will return to action at the Voyles Classic on September 9.
