Rayl Wins Coleman Midgett, Leading Lady Raptors to Third Place Team Finish

The Ravenwood girls XC team receive their plaque at the Coleman Midgett Invitational

Jordan Rayl has won some big races in her career, including the 2021 state championship in the 800m, but Saturday marked her first-ever win at a high school cross country invitational, and was a special day for the senior. She took the lead early and cruised to an 18:37, easily her PR. "I felt so good I didn't think I was running that fast. I was surprised to see that I broke 19," Jordan noted after the race, in her typically humble way. "I couldn't be more happy for Jordan," said Coach Mueller. "She is incredibly disciplined, and when you combine talent with a strong work ethic, you get results. She ran to win. I'm really excited to see how fast she can run later in the season when the weather cools off and the competition heats up."

Rayl's win helped propel Ravenwood to a third place overall team finish. Hannah Laubach, Lizzie Goslak, Elizabeth Flynn, and Abby McMullen also scored, with Emma Prudoff and Hannah Kang rounding out the top seven. Goslak, Prudoff, and Mae Sheehan were all running their first ever high school XC race.

The JV girls team boasted the best team finish of Ravenwood's squads as they were runners up. Madeline Vlach, Emily Immordino, Sydney Chapski, Vivian Bishop, and Miranda Mueller scored for Ravenwood, with Brianne Burgess and Ivy McKibben placing 6th and 7th for the Lady Raptors. Immordino, McKibben, Channing Brown, Tiffany Rocha, Alice Koh and Meghana Sappidi were racing for the first time.

The girls teams will compete again on September 10 at the Voyles Classic.
