Ravenwood senior Faith Vanston was as the Gateway Tire Female Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 11-17 after leading the Lady Raptors to a State Championship from the net. Junior Anna Major was also named the Brentwood Homepage Athlete of the Week.
Lady Raptor Alumni MacKenzie Firek ('16), Grace Parsons ('17), and Claire Fallon ('19) led the Belmont Lady Bruins to an overtime penalty kick victory to win the OVC title and a birth to the NCAA tournament.
Vanston collected 18 saves over three matches in the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament in goal. Ravenwood stopped Stewarts Creek 4-1 in the first round, edged defending champion Houston 1-0 in the semifinals and stopped rival Brentwood 3-2 in the championship.
Vanston also stopped nine shots in the semifinal shutout of the Lady Mustangs, who had ended Ravenwood's title run in the same match in 2018. The clean sheet was Vanston's fifth of the season.
The Lady Bruins fell to #2 North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA tournament, but the Lady Raptor alumni have been a part of one of the most accomplished teams in Belmont Women's Soccer after only their second appearance in program history.
