WRESTLING RECAP - Father Ryan Tournament

WRESTLING RECAP - Father Ryan Tournament

Ravenwood wrestlers went 8-7 at the 50th annual Johnny Drennan '85 Memorial Invitation, with three wrestlers clawing their way through elimination rounds to qualify. for the second day.

The Johnny Drennan '85 Memorial Invitation is highly considered the most difficult and prestigious wrestling tournament in Tennessee.  Forty-Eight of Tennessee's top teams from each division, as well as teams from surrounding states, participate - making it tougher than the state tournament itself.

Sophomore Noah Kang, Sophomore Drew Dodson, and Senior Dylan Martin were the second-day qualifiers.  All had thriller matches that included a come from behind last-second reversal to win in the last second by Drew Dodson, a third-period lateral drop pin by Dylan Martin while down seven points, and a sudden death 2OT victory by Noah Kang.

Junior Connor Ottinger also participated with a first-round pin.

Ravenwood has not had more than one wrestler make it to the second day of this tournament in years.  This was a huge step for our Raptor wrestlers and there will be many more to come!
