State Bound!

Ravenwood boys cross country at the region championship

Region 6-AAA is known as the "region of death" across the state. Heading into the region championship this fall, there were 4 teams ranked in the top 10 statewide and 2 more ranked in the top 20. With only three teams advancing to state, something had to give.

Fortunately, Ravenwood's varsity boys were up to the challenge. Ranked 10th in the state and seeded 4th in the meet, the Raptors got out hard, pushing to an early lead over rivals Independence and Franklin that they would not relinquish. Even sophomore AJ Algood falling mid race and struggling to get back up and finish wasn't enough to derail Ravenwood as the boys finished runners up behind TN#2 Brentwood.

Miles Ramer won his third region title (JV in 2020, varsity in 2021) to lead Ravenwood. Freshman Kevin Rocha finished 9th to join Miles on the All Region team. He was the fastest freshman by 35 seconds. AJ recovered from his fall to finish 23rd, with Jacob Meucci finishing 25th. Robert Hininger was 31st, just missing a medal, but closing out the scoring as the Raptors beat third place Indy by 7. Wesley Franklin and John Schaefer were sixth and seventh for Ravenwood.

In the JV race, Reid Johnson capped his season with a big PR, running 18:00 to place 5th. Caleb MacDonal and Jack Meyer finished, Drew Carter and Kyle Harkins all finished in the top 25 as the boys placed 3rd. Cameron Wilson and Grayson Elder were sixth and seventh for Ravenwood. Reid, Kyle, Cameron, Victor O'Neal, Justin Horrell, Owen Hunsinger, and Alex Hughes all ran PRs.

The varsity boys will compete at the state championship on Thursday, November 2, at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville. The gun fires at 2:40 PM.
