In It to Win It!

Ravenwood boys cross country runners after the Voyles Classic

Saturday was another red letter day for Ravenwood's boys cross country team. Senior Miles Ramer won his second straight Voyles Classic, breaking the course record with a 15:12. He is now Ravenwood's all time fastest sophomore, junior, and senior, and has not been beaten by a fellow Tennessean since his freshman year. Wesley Franklin also got a win, finishing first with an 18:08 in the JV race.

All seven varsity boys ran their season bests, with five running PRs. Kevin Rocha's 16:32 puts him third on the all time freshman list, and AJ Algood's 16:34 makes him the third fastest sophomore. Miles, Kevin, and AJ earned medals for their efforts. Robert Hininger and Jacob Meucci scored and Caleb MacDonald and John Schaefer were sixth and seventh for Ravenwood as the boys finished fourth overall in a huge meet with teams from all over middle Tennessee.

The JV team finished third. After Wesley,  Drew Carter, Reid Johnson, Jack Meyer and Jack West scored and Caleb Myers and Ashton Martin were sixth and seventh. Twenty five JV boys ran their season bests and 18 clocked PRs.

Coaches Mueller and Swanson were all smiles after the meet. "What a great day for the team!" said Coach Mueller. "We had 37 guys race, 32 ran season bests and 25 had PRs. It's a testament to how these guys have embraced the grind. They push each other in practice and today they pushed each other to run their best."

Varsity and JV will be back in action this weekend at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama.
