Abramson & Fitch Top Five at Crockett Park Corral

Thomas Abramson and Sam Fitch running hard in the Crockett Park Corral

Abramson & Fitch. While the pair sound like they could run a clothing company or a law office, they're actually distance runners. Really good ones. Competing with only one of their varsity teammates due to quarantines, Thomas Abramson and Sam Fitch raced hard Friday in the Crockett Park Corral, finishing second and fifth overall to pace the Raptors. "I love that course," Sam said afterwards, much to the delight of Woodland/Ravenwood coach Andrew Swanson, the course's architect. Jackson Hopkins notched a 23rd place finish and JV runners Caleb West, Kyle Harkins, Travis Siebe and Cameron Wilson stepped up to fill the shoes of their brothers temporarily sidelined by the health department. The team finished in fifth place, but for Coach Mueller it was more about the racing experience than anything else.

"Other than Thomas and Sam in varsity and Andrew in JV, everybody else that ran today was a freshman or sophomore, so just getting out there and pushing the pace for 3.1 miles is a valuable learning experience. These young guys are the future of the program so I was happy for them to get the oppornity to compete."

Paced by Camden Walker, Dylan Edwards, Jack Zimberg, Alex Hughes, Andrew Huang, and Luis Paredes, the JV boys also finished fifth.

With many of the quarantines set to expire later this week, a much larger boys cross country team should toe the line Saturday morning, October 17, at the Battle of Bucker Park in Dickson.
