Ravenwood sweeps District 11-AAA awards heading into postseason

The Ravenwood High School baseball team collected the top awards in District 11-AAA after clinching the regular season crown heading into this week's league tournament. 

Junior Blake Bevis was named the District 11-AAA Player of the Year as voted on by the league's coaches, while junior teammate Lucas Kocian was named the district Pitcher of the Year and head coach Danny Borne was tabbed the Coach of the Year.  

In addition, the Raptors landed Andrew Dudas, Austin Johnson, Ben Severance and Ryan Augustini on the All-District First Team. 

Five Brentwood players were honored on the first team as well for the second-seeded Bruins. 

The district tournament kicks off Thursday when No. 9 Centennial travels to No. 8 Page in the play-in game. The rest of the tournament begins Friday at Ravenwood and Brentwood. 

The top-seeded Raptors will host the Page-Centennial winner at 7 p.m. Friday, while No. 3 Summit battles No. 6 Independence prior at 4:30 p.m. at Ravenwood. 

Brentwood will also host a doubleheader Friday with the second-seeded Bruins taking on No. 7 Dickson County in the nightcap and No. 4 Franklin squaring off against No. 5 Spring Hill in the early game at 4:30 p.m. 

The double-elimination tournament continues Saturday into next week at Ravenwood. If weather causes any changes, both schools could go back to hosting duties or higher seeds to try and finish the tournament as planned next Thursday. 

The championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Ravenwood on Thursday, May 13. Saturday games are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. this weekend.
