Raptors Fall To Independence After Sixth Inning Score, Set For Rematch Today

Last Wednesday's game against Independence was a heartbreaker for the Raptors, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat. Independence trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Will Tobin doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs. The Raptors lost despite out-hitting Independence ten to five. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Independence tied things up at three when Ethan Small's sac fly scored one run for Independence. The Raptors put up three runs in the fourth inning. Raptors put the pressure on, lead by a home run by Zane Denton and a double by Lawson Evans

Kobe Kried pitched Independence to victory. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Ben Callahan took the loss for the raptors. He surrendered three runs on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Chayton Gray started the game for Independence, lasting five and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and four runs while striking out four and walking one.

Chase Piotrowski started the game for the Raptors. He surrendered three runs on four hits over four and a third innings, striking out two. The Raptors tallied ten hits. Ben SeveranceEvans, and Denton each managed multiple hits for the Raptors. Severance went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Raptors in hits.Independence racked up five hits. Small and Slater Schield each racked up multiple hits for Independence. Independence was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. 

The Raptors were scheduled to play Overton on Friday night, but were rained out. This week the Raptors will have three home games including Independence and Page on Monday and Tuesday. They will wrap up their series versus Page on Thursday at Page. The Raptors will finish the week with senior night against Fairview on Friday.
